What Type Of Flooring To Look For?
We are remodeling our bathroom. We are unsure of what kind of flooring to put in. We were going to put tile in, until we noticed that the floor is not very level, so we are afraid of the tiles lifting. So then we thought linoleum, but we want the floor to hold up and not look cheap. So would vinyl flooring be the way to go? And are there different grades of vinyl?

The use of a self leveling compound will not only level out the floor but you can then put what ever flooring in you want . Readily available at Home depot , it will pour from an inch deep to a feather finish, seeking it s own level. Any other questions just e mail me direct and check my qualifications there
PS I m partial to ceramic tile but I m bias lol GL
Vinyl will cover your uneven floor, but may not be the cheapest option. In my experience, unless you are purchasing a left over piece off a finished roll that the store has in a clearance bin and you are not picky on patterns, you may end up buying from a whole roll. A bathroom usually being a small space, you will have to buy twice as much flooring as you will need due to the width of the roll.
For me ceramic tile not only saved me money in a small space, it looked good, not cheap, and cleans easier as well. A liquid floor leveller could be applied to level your floor, prior to applying the tiles.
There are some very nice vinyl patterns out there today that look like a natural stone, or a real tile pattern. If you want to make the bathroom look bigger I would go with a big tile look. Here is a picture http://www.georgiacarpet.com/images/viny…
This is an armstrong product. If you want a product that looks good and is of high quality at a low price I would look for a discontinued product or over run. Flooring manufactures will sell these items at a deep discount to flooring retail stores at really good deals. If you have enough in the budget to do a little extra, get that floor leveled. Tile is the way to go. You will be happy with the results and it will increase the value of your house. If you are afraid of doing it yourself, do some browsing to find a contractor. Don’t go straight to Lowe’s or Home Depot. There are usually plenty of smaller businesses that will work with you regarding costs and you are helping out the little guy.
Hope this helps!
just lay a sheet of ply ontop the old floor and then it will be level. Use a poly mix adhesive (BAL flex) or similar and go with tiles. They are MUCH better that vinlyl, and if you get non slip ones they not only looks amazing, but wear amazing and you dont slip. Nothing like getting out the shower and putting your foot on a slippery floor to break your leg!!
Vinyl is a cheaper solution, and everyone knows it.
Some of the new fiberglass vinyl floors are outstanding in looks as well as very durable. Most are NOT affected by water in any way. Are mildew proof. And can be laid over a less than perfect sub floor. The best are found at Abbey Carpet & Floor stores, called Comfortflex. It can be loose laid or glued down.
sorry but in my opinion i dont believe vinyl is any good… its discusting..its not very long lasting.. i would go for tiles…much better and cleans better,,,with vinyl u cant really see what u are cleaning..and it always leaves some dirt even if you cant see it…
if your floor isnt leveled then find a tiler who will level it …
if vinyl is fitted properly it will look great, have you thought about vinyl strips ? hard board the floor first and it will look great either way
See what you can do about leveling your floor, then put in whatever you want.
Good luck!
Vinyl Flooring is the best we have it in our bathroom and its great!
