What Is The Best Way To Paint Vinyl Flooring For A Quick Fix?
We are buying a 5,000 sq ft house and are having to pay a lot of money to put down new carpeting. Eventually, I will put hardwood in the kitchen/ dining areas. But, I will need to wait 6 months to a year. The vinyl is the roll kind, not tiles. The “loud” black & white checks and very distracting with my decor. I just want to paint it brown. I need a cheap quick fix that doesn’t have to last but a few months. Can I use latex? Has anyone had success with this?

I think you will spend too much time and $$ to do it with poor results. Depending on the surface of the vinyl ( vinyl, urathane ) the paint may or may nor stick. Also if the vinyl is flexable the paint will fall off. Best to live with it. A large area rug in the correct color may help tone down the old floor.
wow tricky one I have to strongly recommend that you just deal with the distraction for a couple of months I’m concerned that the paint will stick to the bottom of your feet and get in your brand new carpet and ruin it even when it’s dry but if you have to do it degloss the vinyl with liquid sand or a similar product use a good primer like kilz and paint it with floor paint and did I mention the paint will likely begin to come up in small bits very soon after you do this and ruin your brand new carpet
I’ve never tried it, but I saw it done on HGTV.
All they did was sand down the high spots, and fill in the low.
Then they primed with a high adhesion primer, and painted 2 coats of HIGH quality latex. Because of time constraints, they didn’t use poly, but they did recommend it.
