How Do You Determine How Much Deposit To Keep For Wood Floor Damage?
I have a tenant who rented an apartemnt from me. She got a dog and when I was showing her apartment to new tenants I noticed that the wood floors had tons of little scratches/dents in them.
The floors were brand new when she moved in (she was the first to walk on them). They can’t be resurfaced (bamboo) so how do I figure out how much to remove from her deposit seeing as I can’t spend a particular $ amount to fix.
Her deposit is ~$1000 by the way. The apt is about 900sq/ft.
Cheapest Way To Do Hard Wood Floors?
My mom is opening up a little store that is about 300 square feet (20×15). It is in need of serious renovation. This is going to be my first real design project (I’m a student studying interior design) but I need a little help.
We are very tight on money and I wanted to know the best way to do the floors. We want to do hardwood, specifically reclaimed or bamboo. I am going to try Craig’s list and such but i need some more ideas please.
Thank you for your help!
Dark And Light Wood Floors…?
We recently bought a house that has carpet in the living room and laminate wood floors in the kitchen. We recently found out there are great hardwood floors under the carpet in the living room. The kitchen floors are really light, almost like a bamboo or pine finish, and the living room floors are darker. They are still under the carpet so I don’t know what the finish is. If we have them refinished, can we get them finished lighter? If not, are there any suggestions for how to transition from the lighter to the darker wood? The only places the floors join is a doorway, so it’s not a large spot where you’d see both wood colors.
I Need To Fix Up My Large Porch. I Wanted To Wood Panel It, But There Are Screens, No Windows.?
So I am worried about the panelling getting slightly moist, I could plexiglass the screens, but that would be too permanent. Maybe use a heavy duty clear plastic to cover the screens, and staple here and there. I just bought plastic bamboo to shades to cover the screens. The floor is cement, just painted with heavy duty epoxy paint. There is a high unfinished ceiling. Any ideas? I am a single woman.
We Are About To Have A Wood Floor Installed In Our Family Room Which Abuts Our Large Eat-in Kitchen Mainly?
for the below reasons:
1. Provide more continuity since the kitchen is right “next door”.
Our wood floor in the kitchen is stained red oak.
2. Our carpet is badly stained (thanks to messy kids and naughty 5
lb. chihuahuas). We’ve been told hardwood floors are easier to keep
clean when having to wipe up after the Chihuahua (thank goodness
she is not a big breed).
3. We are hoping our Chihuahua doesn’t even soil the new hardwood
since all prior scents will be gone — and FYI she has never gone on
our hardwood throughtout the house (fingers crossed!)
So here, finally, is my question:
In speaking with several friends who are really involved with animal rescue and often foster cats and dogs until a home can be found for them — they have all recommended BAMBOO wood flooring. They say it is not as attractive to dogs with housebreaking issues — but easier to clean if there are any “accidents”. It is less expensive, but I wonder if it is durable and will last as long as traditional wood floors — and also would they be able to match bamboo with my existing kitchen red oak flooring?
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
Allure Vinyl Flooring Wood Look Planks Look Like Wood Feel Like Wood New At Home Depot.any Information?
The technology for vinyl plank flooring has been around for quite awhile. They are very durable and suitable for many homes on the market today. You should compare prices and make a decision based on a reasonable budget. You need to figure out the TOTAL cost for each option. Hardwood is expensive and labor intensive. Sanding is a mess. Stain and urethane can be a very powerful odor, enough to make you nausea and have severe headaches. Odor subsides within a couple of days though. Vinyl floors or floating floors typically need a thick membrane between it and the sub floor. Not much of an expense but it should be factored in when making your decision. They both will need shoe mold or quarter round. The hardwood process will span several days, the laminate should take 1 day, depending on the specific job. Although I can’t say for certain, I would expect hardwood to be several times more expensive.
Glued Down Wood Flooring… I Have A Glued Down Wood Floor That I Am Removing. Will A Vinyl Tile Stripper Work?
Will a vinyl tile stripper work to remove them?
I have 1100 sq ft. With a tile stripper and one person, do you think I can do this in one day?
Can I just lay ceramic tile over the wood?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Installing Wood Floor Over Particle Board?
I about to put bamboo flooring in my house. Our subfloor is particle board. I suggested to my husband that we put down 7/16″ plywood over the particle board then lay down the felt paper and install the floor. The floor is not very level in a lot of areas and it would be the easiet way to level it all out and becuase the warranty states it will be void if it is installed over particle board. My husband just wants to level out the floor with some kind of compound or something then put down the felt paper right over the particle board and just lay the floors that way to save in cost (he isn’t worried about it being warrantied) and because laying plywood over the existing subfloor would make the bamboo floors so much higher then the rest of the floors in the house. It just dawned on me the reason not to lay it over particle board is probably an issue of nails not grabbing correctly. Is there a nail that is riveted or something that will grab into particle board or am I in trouble?
