I have a small bedroom, 10′x14′, which will be used as an office with lots of pine furniture and has a bamboo style laminate floor. I will be repainting the walls and would like to go with a burgundy color as I have seen some (few) pictures with these together and they seem elegant.
I tried a nice medium green and the color was great and worked well with the pine, but it didn’t give the office feel I was looking for.
Does anyone have any specific color suggestions (and why) especially along the burgundy/maroon color. If you can link me to any pictures that would be 10 times better!

We have 1″ cobalt tiles in the shower, white cabs w/ opaque glass doors, & white tile floors with gray grout. We are up for changing our floors, possibly to the TrafficMaster allure vinyl “bamboo”. We have red and tan in the rest of the house. Love darker colors.

I have this ceramic tile that’s like an off white color with very subtle gold or tan flecks (can’t tell). I don’t want to do brown, I was thinking a nice calming green BUT there are brown accent tiles through out and the entire bathroom from floor to ceiling is tile. this is a diy due to money issues.
What I had planned is doing bamboo floor, remove tiles on wall behinf toilet, sink and in front of toilet leaving tile in shower area only and removing accent tiles and replacing them. I need to replace sink, toilet and mirror, paint, etc.
Does it sound reasonable to do this?
Any suggestions appreciated.

I wanted to repaint my room and I would like to keep the carpet that I have. What color wall paint would be a good way to balance the purple carpet out? The molding is pure white and the carpet is a medium-light purple outlining the carpet and a darker purple on the inside. I am a teenager but I would like to keep it elegant but fun, if possible. Thanks for your help. (Points will be rewarded to the best answer.)

I just bought a brand new house and the vinyl flooring is bucked up in certain places. It looks like it’s got rolling hills or something. I’ve noticed two or three places where this has occurred. Gluing it down probably won’t help because 1. the vinyl is not glued down at all, and 2. if you push down on the spot that’s sticking up, it just pops up next to it.
It appears to me like it is cut slightly too large for the area, forcing the vinyl to buck up. Just to clarify, it isn’t curling up at the seams or wall. This looks like if you took a piece of paper and pushed both ends together, making an arch.
I’ve contacted my contractor, but he just wants to glue that spot down. I really don’t think that’ll work, though. Any suggestions? Only serious responses, please.

The back splash in the kitchen are small glossy tiles, can’t paint them. Don’t want to have the expense of removing. Would like to take vinyl floor tiles (like the design and cheaper than tile) and put them over the tiles. Is that a problem in general and what would be the best way to do that?

Sure………..and you could probably use a cove base adhesive. It’s drying time is slow so you would be able to move your flooring product around a little before it sets. You could probably put a couple of temporary finish nails along the top edge just to hold it from sagging, and just roll it with a J roller a little to keep it sticking. Good luck.

I have already tried to vacuum the house with a new vacuum on a new wall to wall carpet but the new carpet continues to develop little balls of carpet fluff or lint. The first time I vacuumed the carpet the vacuum was compacted with the lint and then wasn’t able to get any more things out of the carpet.
Is there something that I need to do with a new carpet? is there a tool used to clean up the carpet lint? Should I use a different setting to vacuum the carpet? Is there a vacuum rating I need to get the carpet clean?

This is for a small room with 1 bed and 1 crib for my baby. I don’t have any idea on what wall color for my baby’s crib side and for the bed’s side considering I have permanent vinyl brown flooring.
