Putting In Vinyl Floor Tile?
Okay, so we are remodeling on a budget (a TIGHT budget). We want to put vinyl floor tiles in the kitchen. However, we ripped out the carpet, and there was a layer of laminate (the roll-out kind) that the carpet was GLUED to, and then that laminate was GLUED to a layer of TAR PAPER (i have no idea what the previously owners were thinking…)… and that tar paper was glued to the wood floor underneath… we got everything removed, but it still isnt exactly a smooth surface, and we don’t want to put the tiles directly on that because of the unevenness of the surface (we don’t want the tiles getting messed up as we go, you know?)…
what do we need to do to the floor before we lay tile?

Hi, I live in vegas, and my bathrooms vinyl floor is looking nasty, its stained, how easy is it to remove and then replace? The bathroom is small, its about 8 feet by 9 feet, its the smallest one in the house can I do it myself without much experience? How Do I Safely Remove Scuff Marks From My New Vinyl Tile Floor?
I just installed the highest-grade armstrong flooring, but it’s very light in color and scuffs very easily (it’s in the bathroom). How do I safely remove the scuffs without scratching the floor permanently? Also, any product or floor treatment that will make it “scuff free?”

Vinyl Tile On Vinyl Sheet Goods?
I have a one solid piece of vinyl in my bathroom that is faded but installed solid. I bought some 12 X 12 self adhesive tiles to install. I want to stick them to the existing vinyl flooring without putting another sheet of luan plywood down. What should I do to prep the existing vinyl floor so that the tiles stick well? Anyone ever done this before? Let me know.
How Do I Remove Dry Vinyl Tile Adhesive?
I had to leave a vinyl floor tiling job at my cabin before I could put tile over some of the Henry’s adhesive. What will be the best method of softening the adhesive to finish the job? Heat or thinner? The places are the small filler pieces around the walls.
Can I Remove Part Of Tile On Bathroom Wall And Accent With More Modern Tiles In Order To Save $ On A Makeover?
I have this ceramic tile that’s like an off white color with very subtle gold or tan flecks (can’t tell). I don’t want to do brown, I was thinking a nice calming green BUT there are brown accent tiles through out and the entire bathroom from floor to ceiling is tile. this is a diy due to money issues.
What I had planned is doing bamboo floor, remove tiles on wall behinf toilet, sink and in front of toilet leaving tile in shower area only and removing accent tiles and replacing them. I need to replace sink, toilet and mirror, paint, etc.
Does it sound reasonable to do this?
Any suggestions appreciated.
Removing Glued Carpet To Lay Vinyl Tile?
I have carpet glued to my basement floor. I need to remove the carpet so I can lay vinyl tile. I imagine the glue holding the carpet will leave residue that the self-adhesive vinyl floor tile isn’t going to like. Can I coat it, can I sand it, or do I have to completely strip it? Any suggestions on a method for preparing the floor along with any recommended coatings or solvents would be helpful. Thanks!
What Is The Best Way To Clean Old Vinyl Tile Floor?
My vinyl tile kitchen floor is rather old but in good shape. It’s an off white color and no matter what, I can’t get it good and clean. I can mop and then let’s say some water spills on the floor, I wipe it up with a paper towel and you can see dirt on the towel. Even if I have to get on my hands and knees to scrub it, what is the best way and/or the best cleaner or formula to mix up?
