I was thinking about vinyl/resilient flooring, but it doesn’t appear to be safe for the environment which is a turnoff. I need something that can survive dogs and occasional fish tank overflows. Would linoleum (not to be confused with vinyl) hold up to that? I’d also prefer something that doesn’t need professional installation (I’ve heard that ceramic tile is a nightmare to install yourself).

I spilled some yellow acrylic paint on my brown vinyl floor and have tried hair spray, and it did not work and then I tried dawn and it did not work and I did it right away, what can I do to get all the stain out.???

Has anyone used carpet cleaner like this? I guess there’s dry carpet cleaner that you can vaccuum up yourself, does anyone have any suggestions? I’d rather do it myself than hire someone, the guy that was going to do it for me never showed up and I’d rather just get this over with my carpet looks terrible.

So far I haven’t found a decent car shampoo that does what I want it to do. Most of the shampoos I purchased were in a can and some of them weren’t made for cleaning the carpet in your car. Can anyone here recommend a good carpet shampoo that won’t leave any leftover residue and can be vacuumed up with my shop-vac? Also, the safer the shampoo is to use on all carpet types the better.

need help chosing a carpet and vinyl color that does not show stains and dirt easily. I am so getting a new living room set so trying to match it to that it is not a issue. I just want the vinyl floor and carpet to complement each other. The vinyl in dining room and carpet in the living room and hall way which will be carpet meets up. The kitchen and breakfast area is attached to the dining but you can’t see those areas from the living room. I have no one to go look at samples with. Should the kitchen, breakfast area, and dining room all have the same type of vinyl and color or separate. Help I am open to any suggestions. All I know is that I am get a leather sofa and loveseat.

It’s not good enough that I’m buying bamboo floors, or that I don’t drive an SUV, or that I use fluorescent lightbulbs, or that I regulate the temperature in my home, or that I recycle. WHY? Because I still drive a vechicle, I still use my AC, I’m not a vegan and don’t grow my own veggies.
Why do you feel I’m not doing ANYTHING just because I’m not doing EVERYTHING?? It doesn’t make sense. This is the BIGGEST reason I’m not part of the democratic party, you ignore progress unless you’re getting exactly what you want, no compromises. You completely ignore the fact that we’ve been doing a whole lot to clean up our act since the 70’s, YES that’s THIRTY years. Bet your college professors never bothered to tell you that, did they? Why can’t it be good enough that a reasonable person is taking reasonable measures to cut down on waste and prevent it in the future? It’s like you’re going out of your way to make people dislike you…

I am a single mother who is thinking of buying a house that needs a little fixing up. From what I can see it will need new windows, a small wall built for a bathroom, a new front door and new porch. They have completely redone the kitchen already and have bamboo flooring ready to install. The house is priced low enough that I can afford it no problem, but I’ve never bought a house that needs any work before. I am going to get it looked over very closely before I make any offer, but I just wanted any advice any one has who may have ever bought or had an older house that needed some work. Thanks
