Currently we have vinyl flooring, and it’s awful. Ceramic isn’t an option, and we used to have hardwood, but our kids destroyed it. So now laminate it is. Any ideas colour-wise? Should I try to match it to the cabinets?

We are putting up crown molding in our “billiards” room in the “sunken in” bottom floor of our tri-level townhome. The walls are a deep red. We have an espresso pub table and an espresso mirror. The fabric on the sofa is a cream/tan with brown lines. The cieling is white. The room opens up to the kitchen and there are three bamboo shades (on the darker side). The fireplace tile is kind of a golden yellow/tan color but we may change that someday to match the sofa more… The question is whether we should go with white crown molding (even though there isn’t really any white in the room) or whether we should stain it to bring in the color from the bamboo shades or a color from the sofa (creamy tan or medium brown). I have only really seen white crown molding before but Lowe’s sells quite a bit of stained crown molding too. So, we thought it would be good to consider our options.

Between our dogs, our foster dogs, our kids and a leaking 55 gallon aquarium over the last three years our livingroom carpet has been completely destroyed. We want to remove the carpet and put something else (not carpet or tile) down through the livingroom, kitchen/dining area and hallway.
I’ve read that bamboo is really, really soft, hardwood scratches easily and laminate flooring won’t stand up to moisture.
Any recommendations? My dogs are 1 and almost three and I have two year old twins. I can’t wait 10 years to replace this disgusting carpet. I’ve already had it professionally cleaned, it looked great and once it dried all the stains came back.

I have a kitchen and two bathrooms with vinyl floor glued directly to a concrete slab. Do I have to remove the old vinyl, or can I leave it down and install the ceramic tile on top of it. I’ve heard that if the vinyl is secure, and if you rough it up with sand paper, you can leave it down…is that true? Please…professionals only…Thanks!

I have a beige/white leather couch, and all dark wood (espresso) furniture. The house is very contemporary and I have marble in the dining room and entrance (crema cappuccino marble).
Should I do light or dark or medium wood? I do like bamboo…

This is for the kitchen…We are going to paint the walls a rich tan called “cashmere”. The cabinets are being stained a deep red cherry color and the floors are bamboo that have the same color as the cabinets as well as dark striations in it. We are looking at doing a corian counter top with a beige theme. All the appliances are black.
The kitchen is large and open and the flooring is going into the adjacent room that will be painted a chocolate color, this is a game room/family room and it is also very large.
So the question is, what do you think about painting the trim in the kitchen BLACK? we really want some input on this. the rest of the house has cashmere paint and WHITE trim. The family room will be chocolate with white trim. we have been debating every aspect of this kitchen for months and it is getting tiresome.
We have brushed nickle hardware if that means anything to you and lots of windows.

I am in the process of getting my basement finish. I would like to know what color should i paint the walls and what type of carpet would go well. I was thinking of like a slate blue for the walls and gray/blue berber carpet. tell me what you think. Or should i just go with the safe white walls beige carpet? The basement is small and I may need to rent it out in the future. thanks a million

I have a newly placed concrete floor that is reading to high on the moisture reader for an installation of vinyl. Does anyone know a cheap and effective moisture barrier sold in Australia?

We’d much prefer a color from the green-blue-purple side of the color wheel.

you can find a color. If there’s a particular one that you like, feel free to include the name or number.
(The paint we’ll use will most likely be AFM Safecoat, but they don’t have any colors on their website)

I’m having trouble choosing the right colors to paint the interior for my house. I have bamboo floors in my second floor wich i have choosen a very light light gray for my bedroom but now…. i don’t know what other color i should choose to paint the rest of my walls and other bedrooms, then our living room, family room and kitchen. I like neutral colors but i’m having such a hard time choosing the right and perfect color! Somebody please help me :0)
