How Should I Best Go About Laying Vinyl Sheet Flooring Over An Mdf Floor? Vinyl Is Not Cushioned?
My husband and I are pretty new to the whole DIY and are not to sure how to go about this. I have read that if the vinyl is not cushioned you need to use adhesive. What am I looking for and what is it called? Also the MDF we want to lay on is our ‘floor’. We have an 85+ year old house with some dodgy floors, all a bit slopey in the 70’s addition of the house. As it is impossible to get willing tradies where we live we put joists on top of our wonky floorboards and installed a new floor of 15mm MDF. Please tell me we can put adhesive on this. All answers greatly appreciated as we are in the throes of it as I type.
Vinyl Tile On Vinyl Sheet Goods?
I have a one solid piece of vinyl in my bathroom that is faded but installed solid. I bought some 12 X 12 self adhesive tiles to install. I want to stick them to the existing vinyl flooring without putting another sheet of luan plywood down. What should I do to prep the existing vinyl floor so that the tiles stick well? Anyone ever done this before? Let me know.
How Can I Determine When Sheet Vinyl Flooring Was Installed? I Have Asbestos Concerns.?
I have a 435 sf room laid with sheet vinyl that reeks of cat. I need to pull it up, but I am concerned that it might have asbestos backing. Can you tell from the style how old it is? Here is a photo of the floor:

I also pried up a small piece of the floor to see if I could tell if it was asbestos backed. I know lab testing would be more conclusive, but can you tell from these photos whether asbestos might be present?

My Congoleum Vinyl Sheet Flooring Was Installed In 1984. Does It Contain Asbestos? 800 Number To Check This?
One contractor says he will tear up my old kitchen flooring and “don’t worry about it.” Another says he can’t do it because it definitely contains asbestos because it was installed in 1984. He wants to encapsulate the existing floor and lay a 1/4 ” on top of that. Obviously the latter contractor wants more money. Who is right?
Has Any One Used This New No Glue Sheet Vinyl Flooring And Is It For Real?
Yes its for real. There are other brands also, Comfort flex, Tarkett and the newest Mannington. It was developed in Europe. It is a lot like a laminate floor without the click clack sound. The best looking is from Mannington. For all you remove the 1/4 round cut just short of the wall about 1/8″. Put in new or replace the1/4 round and enjoy. If you need to seam, use a special glue under the seam area.

How Can I Replace A Sheet Of Vinyl Flooring?
I have a sheet of vinyl in my entry way. I need a temporary fix, until I can replace the carpet. Can I pull up the vinyl without disturbing the molding around it, place a thin sheeting down and then lay vinyl peel and stick tiles? My reasoning for the sheeting is that peel and stick are so hard to remove, I want to be able to lift them when I replace the carpet and put some permanent flooring down. Will this last for the year or longer if need be?
Thank you in advance for any input.

Can You Use Vinyl Sheet Flooring To Redo A Shower Wall? What Kind Of Adhesive To Use Over Ceramic Tiles?
Sure………..and you could probably use a cove base adhesive. It’s drying time is slow so you would be able to move your flooring product around a little before it sets. You could probably put a couple of temporary finish nails along the top edge just to hold it from sagging, and just roll it with a J roller a little to keep it sticking. Good luck.
