Any Problem Installing Laminate Flooring Directly (no Underlay) Over Vinyl Kitchen Floor That Is Over Dry Wood
The salesman says to use a plastic sheet and/or thin foam underlay but offers no persuasive reason to do so other than the floor might be quieter. My subfloor is dry wood over a full basement. I can see no valid reason for the added underlay and expect to install without it unless someone can offer a good reason for its use.
How Should I Best Go About Laying Vinyl Sheet Flooring Over An Mdf Floor? Vinyl Is Not Cushioned?
My husband and I are pretty new to the whole DIY and are not to sure how to go about this. I have read that if the vinyl is not cushioned you need to use adhesive. What am I looking for and what is it called? Also the MDF we want to lay on is our ‘floor’. We have an 85+ year old house with some dodgy floors, all a bit slopey in the 70’s addition of the house. As it is impossible to get willing tradies where we live we put joists on top of our wonky floorboards and installed a new floor of 15mm MDF. Please tell me we can put adhesive on this. All answers greatly appreciated as we are in the throes of it as I type.
Can I Install A Laminate Floor Over Top Of An Existing Vinyl Floor?

How Do You Paint Over A Vinyl Tile Floor?

Can You Tint Or Paint Over Existing Vinyl Floor? It Would Be Torture For My Back To Replace It.?

What Is The Best Way To Lay Vinyl Over Old Hardwood Floor Covered In Flooring Adhesive?
I ripped up the vinyl floor in my bathroom because when whoever laid the floor last did it, they didn’t bother to secure the floor beneath it. It appears that several floorboards are cut off before the joist so they bob a little. My question is, after I secure these, what is the best way to lay new floor? My dad said I should just lay quarter inch plywood on top of the adhesive left over from the last floor and just screw it down then lay my new vinyl over that. But with that I worry about pockets that could crack in the future. My father in law said I should spread floor leveler or get adhesive remover but with both of those I’m a little worried it would seep through since I don’t think the hardwood floor is sealed very well if at all. Any suggestions on the best method for this situation?
Can I Lay Vinyl Flooring Over Carpet Underlay?
I intend to lay vinyl on a floor that currently has carpet on it. Obviously I will take the carpet up first but was wondering if I can leave the old carpet underlay down and put the vinyl over that? If not can I lay the vinyl straight onto the floorboards or will it need some other kind of underlay? Any suggestions would be appreciated as I have to get this done on the weekend!
Can Ceramic Tile Be Laid Right Over Vinyl Flooring – There Is 1 1/2 Plywood Under It?

Osb Sub-floor Over Cement Leveling Compound?
I am installing a new bamboo floor in my brick & beam loft. I am considering placing down a new OSB sub-floor to nail / staple the bamboo into. The structural deck is: heavy timber, with heavy duty plank, then there is 1″-2″ thick cement based leveling compound.
I want to install a new OSB sub-floor over the existing cement leveling compound. I don’t think this will be a problem since I am up on the 4th floor, and the cement has been in place for 10+ years so it should be moisture free. I am thinking 3/4″ th. OSB, glued to cement. (possibly screwed also, if cement doesn’t crumble)
Concerns, comments, and advice appreciated.
