Help With Laying Vinyl Flooring?
I pulled up my old vinyl kitchen flooring (7 years old) and found that the underlayment is in great shape except that the original vinyl was just glued about 3 inches around the entire perimeter. I scraped the old glue as best as possible and it is almost perfectly level with the rest of the floor. Does it need to be perfectly smooth where it meets the unglued edge or is a slight ridge OK to keep it from showing through the new vinyl flooring? I do have floor “sizing” that I plan to use where there are any nicks or impressions. Should I use the sizing around the edges and taper to the good flooring or am I overdoing this project? I plan to lay new vinyl flooring this wekend. I’d appreciate any good advice. PS: I also tried sanding the old glue to take off any high ridges using 80 paper. Thanks
I’m Doing A Diy Project Of Laying Vinyl Flooring In A Bathroom Over Existing Vinyl. Is It Advisable?
No, it’s not. This was done in our home and we are having to redo it, less than a year afterwards. Where the vinyl chipped through it is showing the other pattern, which ruins the effect. Also parts of it are coming up. This is MUCH more difficult to deal with later than it would have been to just do it correctly in the first place – rip up the old and replace.
Good luck! (:

Cushioned Vinyl Flooring In Kitchen. Should It Be Flat After Unrolling It And Laying It Out?
I`ve unrolled the vinyl ready to trim it but there is air bubbles. I`ve tried rubbing the vinyl flat but the blebs still appear.the vinyl is loosely layed.no adhesive.
Do I have to glue the vinyl to the floor before trimming or
will it settle flat in time without adhesive?
Any pointers on how to make the vinyl flat are welcome.
