Inexpensive Replacement For Old Carpet That’s Also Green And Healthful?
Our carpeting is 13 yrs old. It started out “oatmeal” varigated in color, but despite regular vacuuming and paying to have the floors power cleaned, it looks horrible and everyone’s a bit worried what could be living under it…eek! We all know we need a replacement (the whole house, likely, but money’s *more* than tight.
Does anyone know of any product, esp. green, esp. easy to clean *super well*—maybe carpet alternatives with some “cush”/”spring” to the step (the alternate to carpet padding) to help tame the pain that would come with very hard floors? We live in the southwest–I’ve read bamboo is mostly termite free, esp. when impregnated with boron. But really, money’s the “make it or break it” point. Suggestions? So many thank yous: )
Decorating Advice: Mixing Black & Dark Brown In Olive Green Room?
My living room / dining room walls are olive green, light tan sofa (with light tan pillows and two black pillows that I added recently), bamboo blinds, ecru curtains, oak hardwood floors. My large TV console/bookcase is espresso brown (black-brown), two chairs are black wood & espresso leather seats, and end tables are black metal and dark brown wood. It’s pared down in the aspect of having very little clutter (photos, vases, trinkets, etc.) sitting around. It’s all very earthy-looking and I like it.
I want to paint my old coffee table, dining room table & buffet, but not sure if I should paint them espresso brown or black. Painting the tables and buffet espresso brown seems ’safer’ than going with black. Am I just being a sissy about the black? Any suggestions?

Why Do People Switch Things To “green” And Then Dispose Of The Things They Already Had? Isn’t That Worse?
For example: Someone buys “green” bamboo bed sheets when the old ones they have are still good. Yeah they bought something green but it seems like it would be better not to buy anything at all. Why not just use what you already have until you can’t anymore and then buy the new thing? Same with replacing the hardwood floors in your home. It seems like it would be more “green” not to replace anything because even though something else is better for the environment, it still harms it to some degree. Does this make any sense? Can someone explain it to me?

What Color Goes With Bamboo Green Cabinets?.?
I also painted the cabinets in a distressed look.I bought this very pretty slate tile to put as a back splash, and it has beautiful colors in it, like pinks, yellows and a lot of grey. My question is what should I paint the walls now?, I tried a light grey, but it looks lavender. I also have a dark grey floor paint for the floors, but I’m thinking now of just letting the floor be the wood that is there already. Please help me, I am so use to light pretty colors, so I feel kind of lost with these darker colors.
My counter tops were made by my husband. They are a honey maple wood.
