Should I Use Laminate Or Allure Trafficmaster Flooring?
I’m going to install some wood floors. Real hard wood is too expensive so I was looking for a cheaper alternative. Does anyone have any advice on wood floor alternatives that holds up well under regular traffic? I have a tiny toy poodle and a 6-year old son. Our floors get regular wear, not overly heavy traffic, but I’m hoping to find something that will last.
Has anyone used the new Allure Trafficmaster vinyl floors?

How Can I Get The Stinky-ness Out Of Vinyl Flooring?
I have a vinyl floor in one of my bathrooms. This bathroom receives a lot of traffic as we hold weekly meetings for a club we belong to, and this bathroom is used by all guests as well as our daughter.
The floor seems to have absorbed either odor, urine, or water/urine over time. I clean it conscientiously, but mopping seems to only bring out the odor more even when I use a strongly-scented cleaner (I assume because when the floor gets wet it “refreshes” whatever is making it stinky).
Between cleanings, when the floor is dry and the room is aired, the smell is not really noticeable – but I know it’s there.
What can I use to clean this floor, and what techniques can I use to clean it, that will eliminate this smell?
What Kind Of Flooring For Bad Knees?
I need to replace the vinyl flooring in my kitchen. I have arthritis in my knees and have had arthroscopic surgery in one knee already. My doctor has said the ceramic tile is very hard on the knees (although I really love ceramic tile). I like the look of laminate but I concerned about water damage in a kitchen. Do you have any advice for me? Thank you.
Is It Normal To Have The Same Flooring Flow From The Living Room To The Kitchen?
I have a small space home that is currently carpet (living room) and vinyl flooring in kitchen. I hate carpet and am going to have laminate wood flooring put in, I was also going to have it run into the kitchen…would this be odd?
Whats The Best Method To Install Vinyl Tile Flooring In An Old House?
My wife and I decided to redo the kitchen floor with 1 foot vinyl self-adhesive tiles. After research, it said to try a leveling compound on the old floor so the design wont show through the new tile. Well, it didnt really work that well
And it was decided to tear out the old sheet vinyl floor. Now we have 1/4inch plywood subfloor with all kinds of bumps of glue and old pieces of sheet tile all over. After research, the options are: Rip up the subfloor and put down new plywood or install luan over the old subfloor. We arent going to be in this house for long, a couple years at most and we were looking to improve the kitchen a little bit. Now this happened
Trying to keep cost in mind, whats the best route? The tiles were only 39 cents a piece!! Hehe. Are there other options?
How Can I Determine When Sheet Vinyl Flooring Was Installed? I Have Asbestos Concerns.?
I have a 435 sf room laid with sheet vinyl that reeks of cat. I need to pull it up, but I am concerned that it might have asbestos backing. Can you tell from the style how old it is? Here is a photo of the floor:

I also pried up a small piece of the floor to see if I could tell if it was asbestos backed. I know lab testing would be more conclusive, but can you tell from these photos whether asbestos might be present?

Stain On White Vinyl Flooring?
Okay, this is tough to explain and I have a pic that I can e-mail if it helps. I have white, white vinyl floors in my kitchen. The lady that lived here before me put them in.. I plan on getting tile installed but it’s going to be a while… The problem: around my fridge I have these weird organish/brown stains. They sort of look like scruff marks. I’ve tried everything and can not get them off (by everything I mean your typical cleaner products for floors.) I have also tried a white eraser but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?
What Is The Best Way To Lay Vinyl Over Old Hardwood Floor Covered In Flooring Adhesive?
I ripped up the vinyl floor in my bathroom because when whoever laid the floor last did it, they didn’t bother to secure the floor beneath it. It appears that several floorboards are cut off before the joist so they bob a little. My question is, after I secure these, what is the best way to lay new floor? My dad said I should just lay quarter inch plywood on top of the adhesive left over from the last floor and just screw it down then lay my new vinyl over that. But with that I worry about pockets that could crack in the future. My father in law said I should spread floor leveler or get adhesive remover but with both of those I’m a little worried it would seep through since I don’t think the hardwood floor is sealed very well if at all. Any suggestions on the best method for this situation?
