I am desperate! I rent and my landlord could care less what I do to my home (which is good for me), but won’t pay for it. How do I find cheap flooring (198sq ft) for a kitchen with original linoleum floors over 47 yrs. old? It looks more like a garage then a kitchen floor, that’s how bad it is. I’m obviously not picky, just on a budget of $125 or less.

We were going to put tile in, until we noticed that the floor is not very level, so we are afraid of the tiles lifting. So then we thought linoleum, but we want the floor to hold up and not look cheap. So would vinyl flooring be the way to go? And are there different grades of vinyl?

We are buying a 5,000 sq ft house and are having to pay a lot of money to put down new carpeting. Eventually, I will put hardwood in the kitchen/ dining areas. But, I will need to wait 6 months to a year. The vinyl is the roll kind, not tiles. The “loud” black & white checks and very distracting with my decor. I just want to paint it brown. I need a cheap quick fix that doesn’t have to last but a few months. Can I use latex? Has anyone had success with this?
