I Dunno If My Hardwood Floor Is Rotting?…what Do I Do About These Pinhead-sized Black Spot/clusters On Floor?
It looks like they’re surrounded by areas that have become discolored, almost like they’re perpetually wet, like the light wood floor is now a shade of damp brown color. This is kinda around the edges of the wood where they’re adjacent to the other hardwood plank.
I live in an apartment. Is this serious enough of an issue to call the manager/facilities staff to replace the hardwood floor, or at least take a look at it?
I hope it’s not fungal spores, and that I could become sick from it. It’s right near my dining room table.
Oh, and these black spotty spore-things appeared on the stalks of my potted bamboo plant a few months ago. So I threw it out. It was gross. I didn’t know what it was, but they had appeared.
Thinking About Redecorating Daughters Room, Need Some Ideas Please!!!?
My daughter will be 1 and a half at christmas time. I would like at that time to redo her room because at this point she will most likely be ready to convert her crib to toddler bed and such. Right now her walls are light yellow on top ivory trim and chair rails, and sage green wainscoting on the lower half. I want to leave the wainscoting there and the chair rail. Her carpet is also sand colored burber, but that can be changed. I think I want to do a bamboo wood flooring with a large area rug. So my question is what theme should I choose? I dont want something generic and charectory. She hasnt ever seem TV and dosnt know who any of the cartoons are, so that isnt even an option. I want something fun and girly, but not froo froo over the top. I want it to be liveable and to grow with her until 5-6. Also I would like it to be a functional theme to sort of play off of/with. All that needs to stay in the room is her convertible crib/toddler bed, a bookshelf, and her dresser/change table.
How Should I Best Go About Laying Vinyl Sheet Flooring Over An Mdf Floor? Vinyl Is Not Cushioned?
My husband and I are pretty new to the whole DIY and are not to sure how to go about this. I have read that if the vinyl is not cushioned you need to use adhesive. What am I looking for and what is it called? Also the MDF we want to lay on is our ‘floor’. We have an 85+ year old house with some dodgy floors, all a bit slopey in the 70’s addition of the house. As it is impossible to get willing tradies where we live we put joists on top of our wonky floorboards and installed a new floor of 15mm MDF. Please tell me we can put adhesive on this. All answers greatly appreciated as we are in the throes of it as I type.
We Are About To Have A Wood Floor Installed In Our Family Room Which Abuts Our Large Eat-in Kitchen Mainly?
for the below reasons:
1. Provide more continuity since the kitchen is right “next door”.
Our wood floor in the kitchen is stained red oak.
2. Our carpet is badly stained (thanks to messy kids and naughty 5
lb. chihuahuas). We’ve been told hardwood floors are easier to keep
clean when having to wipe up after the Chihuahua (thank goodness
she is not a big breed).
3. We are hoping our Chihuahua doesn’t even soil the new hardwood
since all prior scents will be gone — and FYI she has never gone on
our hardwood throughtout the house (fingers crossed!)
So here, finally, is my question:
In speaking with several friends who are really involved with animal rescue and often foster cats and dogs until a home can be found for them — they have all recommended BAMBOO wood flooring. They say it is not as attractive to dogs with housebreaking issues — but easier to clean if there are any “accidents”. It is less expensive, but I wonder if it is durable and will last as long as traditional wood floors — and also would they be able to match bamboo with my existing kitchen red oak flooring?
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
What To Do About Odor From Red Wine On Carpet?
I spilt a whole cup of red wine all over my carpet yesterday. I didnt know what to immediately do really when it happened other than grap a few wet towels and put liquid laundry detergent on the end of them and scrubed the carpet really good until the stains were barely , if at all visible in the carpet.
Then I heard a few hours later that “Resolve” carpet spray was good to use , so sprayed some of that as well all over that area and rubbed the carpet again with a towel.
I still think i am smelling that red wine and was curious if this will be its new smell or will it eventually go away ?
any further recommendations?
Thanks!

Can Anybody Tell Me More About Vertical Glass Indoor Gardens?
I saw one in South America situated in a house. It was a vertical rectangle constructed of glass, 10 metres high, at least 3 metres wide, starting on the ground floor and constructed so it opened onto the roof, thus allowing rainwater to come down.
There was bamboo and other tropical plants within, with sliding doors allowing access from within the house.
I have heard that these were popular in the 1960’s or 1970s but have no other information regarding this.
Can anybody please shed some more light on this please.
What To Do About Tiny Bugs All Over The Floor In My Bedroom?
They’re little bugs that are extremely tiny, you can barely see them. They don’t move barely at all, and many of them appear to be dead. I got bamboo floors installed last month, could they have come from there?
M Going To Put Down Some Wood Flooring And Was Thinking About Bamboo Will It Be A Good Strong Lasting Floor?
Hi, Bamboo is a beautiful eco-friendly flooring.Bamboo has a lot of benefits as it is 50% more stable and harder than red oak. It is faster growing and a sustainable resource. It is less expensive than hardwood. Just like hardwood it is important to acclimatize your bamboo flooring before installation. Important to get experienced installers and check them out.
You want to purchase your bamboo from a reputable company that only harvest mature bamboo as some harvest it too young and then the boards are soft. As with any product it is buyer beware and the same is true when dealing with contractors you need to do your homework. Here are some links for more info. Hope this helps.http://www.hardwoodlaminateflooringguide…http://www.hardwoodlaminateflooringguide…
Is Laying That New Vinyl Flooring Too Challenging For Someone Who Doesn’t Know Much About Flooring?
