A lot depends on the type and quality of materials you use, and the cost of living (i.e., cost of labor) in your area.
Decent carpeting can run $300-$600 installed with padding for a room roughly that size. Fancier materials like berber cost more for the carpeting and more to install. I’ve seen cheap carpet rolls at Home Depot (uninstalled, no padding) for less than a dollar a square foot.
