How Do You Keep Cats From Marking Or Urinating On A New Carpet?
Our old carpet had many urine stains, esp. the closet. We don;t want to have this carpet soiled w/cat urine. We have 3 indoor/outdoor and 1 indoor cat. All are healthy w/no urinary infections or problrems. 2 of them have slept with us for years. They have spent the last 2 days since installation crying and scratching at the door (which has just been painted) and keeping us awake most of the night. I admit I miss them too, but I dont want to ruin a new expensive carpet!

One of the things that should have been done prior to putting down the new carpet was to clean the subfloor with something like Natures Miracle –
Its not always good enough to pull the carpet and pad – the urine will soak and stay in the wood flooring and remain a scent for the cats that says “PEE HERE!”
You might try pouring Natures miracle onto the known pee areas and allow it to soak into the floor through the carpet. Natures miracle is safe and if tested first you should find no damage or color fade to the carpet.
Its 100% guaranteed as well – so if you get some of the known locations taken care of it should cure the cats – so long as the litter box remains clean and fresh – so that the cats aren’t looking for a better location to potty at!
Ok If your cats are “litter trained” make sure the litter box is always clean b/c cats will urinate all over carpets, sofas, beds, more. If your cats havn’t been using it lately then 30 mins after they eat and drink put them in the litterbox to get them familiar with what they should be using. In local pet stores you can buy a bottle of bitter apple for cheap or other products, you can spray it in a couple times in your carpet. They will steer clear. Themost likely reason why your cats are urinating on your carpet it b/c the litter wasn’t cleaned and they decided to urinate on the carpet and once they start they never stop. They think they can do what they want! If your cats still start to pee on your new carpet, put the litterbox near it and when you think they have to go, or they start to go quickly put them in the litter box!
I hope I helped!
Feliway, it comes in a plug in version which releases the scent of the cats natural pheromones, but only they can smell it, hope this helps you.
hum… get it fixed maybe? and teach it to use the litter box… that might help…
