How Do I Get An Old Pet Urine Stain On Carpet?
While I was on vacation my dog had an accident on the carpet. The people who were watching her did not notice the urine. When I got home, 2 weeks later, I noticed it. I removed the furniture from the room, pretreated the area and then steam cleaned the entire room. Now the smell keeps coming back when the humidity is high. The stain is gone, but the smell is still there. What can I do to take the smell out of the carpet?

Vinegar. Cheapest and has proved very well for me. Also be careful what you treat your carpet with because your dog will keep urinating in the same place if it can smell it. Vinegar takes away that smell.
buy a pet accident spray for the area, it needs to be an enzyme cleaner.
pet urine will keep comming back unless it is broken down with an enzyme.
Another idea is to sprinkle bi carb soda on the area and leave it overnight then vaccuum it up!
cheers & good luck
Use water mixed with vingar it will take the smell out
yeah, vinegar
Baking soda and water and a scrub brush.
it sounds like the urine made it through the padding and maybe further. Try using a cat urine removal spray. you can find these at pet-smart. works pretty good. hope it helps.
give up your carpet it wont ever stop smelling ,i know its expencive to replace carpet but look at how much money you are going to spend trying to get rid of that smell,i know first hand what you mean im getting ready to go to tile &throw rugs myself.good luck to you
White vinegar
I agree with Kathy A. It doesn’t go away and if you expeririment it will just cost money. I had good luck with OdorXit with cat pee, but if you cruise the site, they will show you in photos what urine does to padding and floors. It’s unreal. Try the OdorXit, It worked for me in places that weren’t so saturated that I had to cut the carpet out.
