What Is The Best Floating Laminate Floor?
We just ripped the carpet out of our basement and really wanted hardwood but once we found out that our only choices were engineered or bamboo we started to look into laminates. We have been looking at lumber Liquidators. We want something economical but a good enough quality that it isnt immediatly obvious that it is laminate. Any suggestions for a floor that locks together tightly and has a good sound too it when walked on? Also is cork the best underlayment for a floating floor? Or should we opt for a quiet walk type underlayment with the moisture barrier? Thanks any advice will be much appreciated.

I ve installed a few 100,000 s/f of laminates and I ve found 2 on the market I really like to install and the quality and looks. Quick Step ans Alloc make a good laminate. But you have to pay a little extra to get looks and quality , you don t get it real cheap.
As far as the underlayment goes, you must either use a standard under layment or the quiet walk. This is more to allow the flooring to do its proper movement. Cork isn t a good under layment unless you add that along with the foam under lay. A moisture barrier is only needed for a below grade slab where moisture may be a problem.
Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar . I ve attended several installation seminars along with having installed several 100,000 s/f if laminate. GL
